create new NIS user account and another project

Filed under: freebsd, how to, red hat, Uncategorized — oscartheduck @ 12:55 pm

I need to write this down because I do it maybe once every eight months and it’s a struggle each time.

Okay. It’s simple.

vi /etc/passwd.nis and add the appropriate individual.

cd /etc/sp && make

Yay!

I’m thinking of writing a little script to take a list of file names and grep ’em. I was thinking about calling it something like grepgle and adding a couple of optimisations:

1. when activated with a -1 flag, grepgle uses locate to discover the list of files to grep

2. when activated with a -2 flag, grepgle uses find to discover the list of file names

I’ve got to consider whether it’s worth the time to code it, though.
